There is still so much to do. But I do have some items checked off. Hairdresser, pedicure, waxing, facial, all booked, and with the important things in hand I can now turn to the more mundane. Turn phone over to pre-pay, contact utilities for final accounts, arrange for post to be redirected – though that’s a hard one given we will be gypsies for a while.
Oh, and an update on our putting our furniture etc into storage. We aren’t. Well, not all of it anyway. The new tenant of our apartment will be splitting his time between here and Los Angeles where he works in television, and chatting to him revealed he had to go out and buy everything needed to kit out the place. Hmmm. He liked our style – okay, perhaps he didn’t exactly fall in love with the lime green sofa and pink, orange and purple cushions (très Austin Powers, baby) but he said he could live with it – and so we struck a deal to rent it all.
The next day saw Jas begin the arduous task of undoing all his hard work. Boxes previously stacked to the ceiling were unpacked and metre upon metre of bubble wrapped ripped off. Beds had to be reassembled and rooms redressed. We are even leaving some of my precious books to give the place a lived-in feel. Trouble is, Jas is really liking the ultra-pared down look and hinting we should get rid of even more before we go!
Like what? After weeks of selling and donating there’s hardly anything left!
