House sit number three

After camping out in Brett and Michelle’s last week we moved to a gorgeous three-level home in Freeman's Bay to house-sit an elderly cat.  Only short-term, since our calendar is fully booked up until December, but as a lover of all the good things in life I’d happily go back at the drop of a hat!  And not just for the property, as stylish as it was, or the proximity to Ponsonby Road, but the state-of-the-art coffee machine in the chef’s kitchen. There are some things you just can’t do without!

Our fourth house-sitting assignment is for a month, and involves looking after not just a cat but two guinea pigs. In another Auckland suburb, this house has full central heating - the English version, with radiators - which I’m loving on a day like this, with the rain drizzling down outside.

On the other hand, I've caught Jas’s cold, the one he’s had for three weeks.  I was so sure I’d got away with it until I went down with the dreaded sore throat, the result of which, alongside a feeling of utter lethargy, is a complete lack of creativity. So instead of sweating over the last edits for Ruby & Lilith or catching up on my blog, I’ve been snuggled up alongside him on the sofa, hot toddy in one hand, tissues on the other, enjoying a marathon session of Vikings - and Travis Fimmel - on a sixty-five inch TV!
